WATCH THIS SPACE – the BRSO’s new concert format is as colorful, diverse and unconventional as the area around the future new concert hall itself.
Alternating venues in Werksviertel-Mitte, famous guest artists and great chamber music: that’s the philosophy behind the new concert format WATCH THIS SPACE. Following upon the cellists Daniel Müller-Schott and Klaus Mäkelä, the orchestra’s chamber music aficionados now welcome the violinist Gil Shaham, with whom they already played several times in small ensembles during his 2013/14 residency. The programme features two genuine classics: the first of Brahms’s two quintets and Mendelssohn’s dazzling String Octet, with which the composer found his own inimitable voice at the age of 16. Even in the quintet setting the strings project a wide panoply of hues and tinges, while the Octet spreads them out into a symphonic tapestry.
