Highlights of the 2017-18 Season
In the coming 2017–18 season we hope once again to offer our audiences a high-quality and varied programme that whets their appetite for thrilling experiences, whether in the concert hall or at home on live A/V broadcasts.
Our principal conductor Mariss Jansons will conduct such monumental symphonies as Bruckner’s Eighth, Mahler’s Seventh, Schubert’s “Great” C-major and Beethoven’s “Eroica”. Further highlights include Requiem settings under the baton of Riccardo Muti (Verdi’s Messa da Requiem) and Bernard Haitink (Brahms’s German Requiem). The season will also feature such leading figures as Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Harding, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Franz Welser-Möst (with a concert opera performance) and Giovanni Antonini, all of whom have enjoyed a close association with our orchestra for years and have often made guest appearances. We are delighted once again to greet Antonio Pappano and Paul Daniel and to welcome young conductors such as Robin Ticciati and Dima Slobodeniouk, who will be making their début with the Bavarian RSO.
Piano aficionados are also in for a treat: seven pianists from different generations, from Daniel Barenboim to Daniil Trifonov and Leif Ove Andsnes, will join forces with our orchestra in the concert hall. Further highlights are ensured by such international stars as Elīna Garanča, Magdalena Kožena, Frank Peter Zimmermann and Martin Grubinger.
We wish you lots of pleasure on your musical journey of adventure and look forward to greeting you at our concerts, whether in Munich or elsewhere around the globe.
