The concerts on December 9/10, 2021 under the direction of Herbert Blomstedt in the Herkulessaal may also be filled to a maximum of 25 percent due to the stricter Corona regulations. We have therefore decided on the following procedure for the sale of tickets: All tickets will be cancelled and the concerts will go on sale again with a capacity of 25%, on Tuesday, November 30. Tickets already purchased are invalid and will be refunded.
MANFRED HONECK & IGOR LEVIT
Igor Levit – last season’s Artist in Residence – returns to the BRSO with Brahms’ First Piano Concerto. In the second half of the concert, Manfred Honeck conducts one of Dvořák’s most popular works, his 8th Symphony, in which he reveals himself to be a Czech national composer to the very core. Tickets for the concerts on December 16, 17 & 18 are on sale with a maximum occupancy of 25%. Tickets already purchased are void and will be refunded.
Klassik am Odeonsplatz 2022
Sir Simon Rattle will celebrate his premiere at Germany’s most atmospheric classical open-air on July 10, 2022! Our future chief conductor has selected symphonic film music for his first Odeonsplatz concert, including highlights from Ben Hur, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Star Wars. Tickets for this are available now!
SIR SIMON RATTLE CONDUCTS MAHLER 9
In two concerts on Nov 26 & 27, the future principal conductor Simon Rattle conducted the ninth symphony by Gustav Mahler with its nimbus between bold anticipation of modernism and late romantic swan song. For the BRSO, this is at the same time a departure into a new chapter of its Mahler performances, because with Simon Rattle, no less a fervent Mahler aficionado is at the helm of the orchestra as his predecessors Jansons, Maazel and Kubelík once were. The recording of the SZ charity concert is now available in our media center.
Due to the current pandemic situation, we have decided to postpone the presale for the BRSO concerts in January and February 2022 until further notice. We will keep you informed here on an ongoing basis should any changes occur. All further information about the BRSO concerts can be found in our concert calendar at any time.
Due to the new Corona regulations of the Bavarian State Government (15th BayIfSMV) the “2G plus” rule is mandatory for the concerts of the BRSO. This means that only people with a valid proof of vaccination or convalescence and a negative rapid antigen test (24 hrs old) or PCR test (48 hrs old) are allowed to attend concerts. Children and adolescents from the age of 12 must also show proof of vaccination or convalescence and proof of testing.
THE MARISS JANSONS ERA
From 2003-2019 Mariss Jansons was chief conductor of the BRSO. All concerts of this era are now documented in a timeline to remember and relive – partly with additional galleries, videos and excerpts from interviews or rehearsals from the archives of BR-KLASSIK and the BRSO. Also available: a film with many moving memories of companions and musicians of the BRSO, which can be found under December 1, 2019. Have fun browsing and reminiscing!
