SIR SIMON RATTLE WITH WAGNER
Sir Simon Rattle is back in Munich! The only time in the season before he takes over as chief conductor of the BRSO, but with a major project: after Rheingold and Walküre, he now takes on Richard Wagner’s Siegfried. And once again, the hearts of Wagner fans are likely to beat faster – also thanks to the exquisite star cast: Anja Kampe, Barbara Hannigan, Gerhild Romberger, Simon O’Neill, Peter Hoare, Michael Volle, Georg Nigl and Franz-Josef Selig. The concerts will take place on February 3 & 5, 2023 in the Isarphilharmonie.
HERBERT BLOMSTEDT AT THE REHEARSAL
Herbert Blomstedt, soon to be 96 years old, is the oldest active conductor of his rank. At the concerts at the beginning of January 2023, he presented, for once, not composers from his Nordic homeland, but the “Romantic” by Anton Bruckner. We had the great fortune to accompany him for a day of rehearsals. The result is a documentary of over two hours that shows the detailed work of Blomstedt and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks on this symphony.
