JOANA MALLWITZ & JANINE JANSEN
The Nuremberg General Music Director Joana Mallwitz made her debut with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks! She introduced herself to the BRSO with Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. Together with Dutch violin soloist Janine Jansen, Joana Mallwitz also presented Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a bravura piece of beguiling melodic richness. She began with one of the most popular tone poems by Richard Strauss, “Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks”.
Sir Simon & Magdalena & Friends
A very special chamber concert will be given by Simon Rattle and Magdalena Kožená with friends from London and Berlin at the Isarphilharmonie on July 5. Sir Simon will play the piano for some of the songs, but compositions will also be performed that are accompanied by string quartet or wind instruments, thus adding quite unusual timbres to Magdalena Kožená’s mezzo. Due to its instrumentation, the selection is rarely heard in the concert hall and offers a vivid spectrum of European song composition. Tickets are now on sale!
NEW SEASON 22/23
The Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BRSO) today launched its 2022/2023 concert season. After enormous challenges over the last two pandemic years, the orchestra looks forward with confidence to next season, when it will present numerous programmes featuring large-scale forces and showcasing the talents of many distinguished soloists and conductors. The orchestra will also tour across Bavaria, Germany and Europe. Advance ticket sales for the first concerts open on 26 July 2022.
BRSO CONTAINER
For a long time now, the BRSO has been present with concerts and many other events in the Werksviertel-Mitte, the site of Munich’s planned concert hall. Since February 2022, the orchestra has its own “little home” there: a container in the so-called Container Collective, which will be filled with life through a variety of activities and thus enable completely new encounters with the musicians of the BRSO. We look forward to seeing you there!
JULIA FISCHER & MICHAEL TILSON THOMAS
Exactly 30 years after his last appearance with the BRSO, 77-year-old American conducting star Michael Tilson Thomas returned to Munich! From his homeland, Tilson Thomas brought with him Aaron Copland’s Third Symphony. At the beginning, Julia Fischer enchanted the Munich audience with her vocal tone and creative power in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Listen now to the concert recording as audio on demand!
CORONA NEWS
On Sunday, April 3, 2022, new Corona regulations of the Bavarian State Government (16th BayIfsMV) went into effect, eliminating many of the previous protection measures. This means you no longer need to present proof of vaccination or convalescence or a negative test result to attend a concert.
