Gautier Capuçon, Cello

Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks

An exciting début and a thrilling reunion await us in this concert. In 2004 the cellist Gautier Capuçon played a Schnittke Concerto grosso with the BRSO alongside his brother, the violinist Renaud Capuçon. Now he will appear again with a pièce de résistance from the cello repertoire: the Dvořák Concerto, the final large-scale work from the master’s years in America and probably the most popular cello concerto of them all. Gianandrea Noseda, currently the head of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington and from 2021 at the Zurich Opera, will contrast this classical masterpiece with visually powerful programme music that will take the listener through an entire series of striking events, characters and moods, as if in a motion picture.
