Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks

For several years the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has maintained a warm and highly motivated partnership with Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Now this Canadian conductor is bringing a repertoire rarity to Munich: Rachmaninoff’s final Symphony No. 3. Composed in 1936, it will be heard for the first time in the orchestra’s concerts! Originally it was premièred by the Philadelphia Orchestra, whose principal conductor is now Nézet-Séguin. Preceding the symphony is one of Poulenc’s most impressive sacred works, the Stabat mater, dedicated to the memory of a deceased friend. Here a leading role will be given to the Bavarian Radio Chorus in a piece poised between melodic simplicity and archaic rigour, inwardness and expressivity.
