Please note
We are very sorry that Mikko Franck had to cancel the concerts with the BRSO on February 20 and 21 due to health reasons. We are pleased that Klaus Mäkelä has agreed to take over at short notice. Please note the associated program change: instead of Apotheosis by Rautavaara, Kodály’s Dances of Galánta will be heard.
The 26-year-old Italian pianist Beatrice Rana already has an exclusive CD contract for which she has recorded Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Prokofiev’s Second Concerto. Now, for her BRSO début, she will play Prokofiev’s Third Concerto, whose full-voiced, highly virtuosic piano part specially suits her extraordinary talent. Her partner at the helm will be Finnish conductor Klaus Mäkelä. He will round off the concert with Kodály’s Dances of Galánta and Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5.
