“Play more Mozart!” Thus the battle-cry of Herbert Blomstedt: “You have to articulate very precisely and can’t rely on power and impact.” This spirited 92-year-old conductor is a welcome guest at the helm of the Bavarian RSO and never fails to deliver splendid performances. On three evenings he will conduct Mozart’s E flat major Symphony of 1788 (K 543), with its admonitory opening harmonies, and the unfinished Mass in C minor (K 427), which Mozart wrote “entirely for myself in my heart of hearts”. The Bavarian RSO will perform the work with a quartet of sterling solo vocalists and the Bavarian Radio Chorus.
Please note: Unfortunately Anna Lucia Richter has to cancel her performances with the BRSO on 19, 20 and 21 December due to illness. We are thankful that Tara Erraught will step in for her.
