Wolfgang Läubin has been a member of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks since 1985.

1965: born on March 7 in Müllheim/Baden

1975: first trumpet lessons with his father

1979: Start of preliminary studies at the Music Academy in Freiburg im Breisgau with Professor Bodenröder; member of the Baden-Württemberg Youth Orchestra, member of the German Youth Orchestra and European Community Youth Orchestra (conductors include Abbado, Barenboim, Bernstein, Boulez, Davis, Dorati, Haitink, von Karajan, Maazel, Mehta, Muti, Sawallisch, Solti)

1981: Start of full-time study in Freiburg, solo trumpeter in the Chamber Orchestra of Europe

1982: Member of the Bach Collegium Stuttgart under Helmuth Rilling; concert tours with this group (including to the former USSR and GDR, Poland, Japan, South America), television and disk recordings

1984-85: Trumpeter in the Radiosinfonieorchester Frankfurt

since 1985: Trumpeter in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks

1987: German concert tour: solo concerts accompanied by the New York Virtuosi chamber orchestra and the Tibor Varga chamber orchestra

1988: Participation in the chamber music festival in St. Moritz, initiated by Claudio Abbado, among others a production of Igor Strawinsky’s History of a Soldier with Ruth Berghaus

1989: Solo concerts at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival with the brothers Hannes and Bernhard Läubin

1990: Original performance of a concerto for three trumpets and orchestra at the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, specially composed for the Läubin trumpet ensemble by Siegfried Matthus

from 1990: Numerous concerts, disk and television productions with the Windsbacher Knabenchor

1991: Solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts at the Oregon Bach Festival

Two discs have been made for Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft – Music for Three Trumpets and Orchestra (with Simon Preston) and Concertos for Trumpets and Orchestra (with the English Chamber Orchestra)
