Second Violins

Stephan Hoever was born in 1965 in Essen, was first taught by his father, before moving on to the the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf as a preparatory student, completing a program of instruction with Michael Gaiser cum laude following his concert examination in 1992.

A scholarship from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) enabled him to continue his studies with Franco Gulli at the renowned American Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington. Stephan Hoever was the associate principal player in the second violin section of the European Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado and Zubin Mehta. Substitute engagements took him to the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the German Chamber Philharmonic in Bremen.

From 1993 to 1995 he was a member of the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich; In the 1995/96 season he began his current engagement with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. As a founding member of the Munich String Quartet, launched in 2000, Stephan Hoever devotes himself intensively to the performance of chamber music. In addition to his activities in Munich, he is also a member of the Vienna Musikverein, the Klangbogen of Vienna and aöso performs in other European countries. His extensive touring activity has also taken him to Japan.
